Since 1966, Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo has been bringing people and animals together in a relaxed, personal and all natural atmosphere. Native wildlife and beautiful plants surround you in our 30 acre park. More than 400 exotic animals reside here and we let you "get close," with more ways to meet, feed and touch them.
Secrets to an Outstanding Visit
Before the visit:
1. Plan to spend at least 2 hours here. Most groups actually spend about 3 hours enjoying the zoo and our shows.
2. Make a copy of your reservation for your records.
3. Reservations and deposits must be received at least 2 weeks prior to visit.
4. Upon receipt of your reservation, you will sent a confirmation. Add this to your records.
5. Give all of these records to your group leader the day of the visit in case there are any questions.
The day of your zoo visit:
1. The balance is due the day of your visit. One cash payment, charge or company check accepted only. Parents or others paying separately will be charged the full admission rate.
2. Please have the group leader come to the admissions area first to pay for the group, get maps, etc.
3. CWPZoo is located along a busy road. For safety, the students should stay on the buses until admitted. It will only take a few minutes for your group leader to clear admissions.
4. Once the admissions process is complete, the group will come in though the designated entrance.
5. Bus parking is available just north of the entrance.
Convenience notes
1. Picnic tables are located throughout the grounds. You are welcome to bring lunches. Please clear your tables when finished and do not feed leftovers to the animals.
2. You are responsible for items left unattended.
3. There are beverage machines on the grounds.
4. During gift shopping, chaperones must accompany their groups. We recommend you do this in groups of 10 - 15.
If you can't come to us, we'll come to you with a live animal program at your school. School Programs feature four different animals, actual animal biofacts, and always encourage children to touch the animals and ask questions. As teacher Lorie Quinn says, "Students are so enthralled with the program, they don't realize how much they are learning."
We have received an enthusiastic response to the new African exhibits, and reservation space is limited. Insure your students can participate in this exciting addition to Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo by making plans now .
